Patrons visiting the Loading Dock on Friday, September 11th, were treated to an electric performance by Truck Violence and Doug.
As show goers made their way into the Loading Dock, anticipation filled the local venue as the crowd gathered, greeted each other and talked about the rapidly approaching performance. The Loading Dock, a non-profit performance venue and creative space, created a wonderful atmosphere with its raw creative aesthetic and mood lighting.
Taking the stage Doug., a four person punk rock band from New Hampshire, heralded the beginning of the performance with “Throne” from their 2024 album Beholder. Doug. set the tone with escalating feedback and rising tones. Strobing red lights interlaced the darkness as Doug. rolled into one of their top hits, “Dog Eat Dog”, getting the crowd riled up and moving. The band played songs from Beholder, including “Flowering”. A song which made the jump to Beholder from their 2024 EP Flowering. Additionally they played “Pearls”, a potential upcoming release yet to be found online. Doug.’s Growling riffs, as well as passionate vocals, carried by the persistent drive of thrumming bass and beating drums, conveyed feelings of hardcore punk rebellion against corporate America. Closing out their set with “Cold Cuts from Pompus Pigs”.
Hot off the road from their last show at the Haven House in Tennessee, Doug. made for a killer opener, supercharging the crowd. The stylistic combo of noise rock and hardcore punk made a smooth transition to the Canadian hardcore-and-folk style of Truck Violence. Going their separate way from Truck Violence, Doug. is heading to History Ottawa on the 12th, then off to the House of Blues in Ohio on the 15th, looking good for a strong 2026 tour.
With a short break while the bands swapped places, energy in The Loading Dock was high as Truck Violence took the stage. Coming from Burlington Vermont, the first stop of their North America 2026 tour, Truck Violence opened up with “My Dog Would F**ck the Air” from their new album The Weathervane is My Body which dropped this summer on June 26th. Jumping into “Undressed You Layn’t Before Me” from their 2024 album Violence. Interleaving the two albums to great effect, showing off their Canadian Hardcore and folk elements. Anyone would have a difficult time not getting swallowed up in the performance and the energy of the crowd.

The yawning expanse of sound kept everyone’s head moving and repeatedly triggered frenzied moshers. While every so often giving a moment of thoughtful reprieve as the folk component of Truck Violence’s style would take center stage in “Compelled by Christy” and “Guns Buried in the Yard”. Calming, smoky moments in the eye of a storm.
Wrapping up the show with “Kindly, Wash Yourself” was a wonderful capstone to the event. Momentarily slowing the pace for a collective intake of breath, and sending everyone off with a final burst of energy to end the night. A strong showing for their second stop in an expansive North American Tour. The applause of the crowd sent them onward to Elizabethtown, New York, to play the Elizabethtown Social center on the 12th. Then to Troy, New York, to play at No Fun on the 13th.
Overall, a riveting, soul-rocking experience.
