Missouri rock trio Radkey return with Bedroom Sand, a new album shaped by independence, perseverance and their relentless commitment to doing things their way.
Radkey’s fourth album, Bedroom Sand, was recorded during the summer of 2025 at Syracuse University. With the help of a professor, the band quietly made its way into the school’s state-of-the-art facilities, creating an album through a DIY, make-it-up-as-you-go process that feels perfectly suited to Radkey.
The album takes listeners on a journey through American punk rock with touches of ’90s college alternative. Think Weezer’s power-pop melodies blended with Local H’s gritty alternative sound and the raw punk energy of bands like the Ramones and the Misfits, all coming together to create something uniquely their own.
The eight-song, 24-minute album opens with “Victory,” a song that captures both the frustration of Radkey’s setbacks and the determination that kept the band moving forward. After watching their label disappear following a buyout, losing a publishing partner when the crypto market crashed and enduring poorly planned tours that paid only $250 a night, the brothers could have easily walked away. Instead, “Victory” becomes a statement of survival, independence and taking back control.
The bass intro and persistent drumbeat set a driving tone to kick off the album, intensified by Dee Radke’s screams and his ability to stay locked in with the rhythm.

The album continues with “Falling From Grace” and “Welcome to the Backyard,” both driven by contagious rhythms and catchy melodies that are nearly impossible not to get behind. It is here that Radkey really leans into a ’90s power-pop sound, bringing flashes of Weezer and a good old-fashioned punk formula while still keeping the songs distinctly their own.
The title track, “Bedroom Sand,” along with “Strays” and “Return to the Sky,” shifts the album into something grittier, bringing more raw punk energy with an alternative-rock edge. Meanwhile, “The Heartless” blends that same driving punk rhythm with sharp rock solos, adding another layer to the album’s sound.
The final track, “Ready to Burn,” once again opens with the bass, settling into a slower pace that gives the song room to build. As the drums come in, the energy begins to rise, pushing the track forward and giving the album one last burst of momentum. It feels like a fitting closer, pulling together the record’s gritty bass lines, driving rhythms and raw rock edge before Bedroom Sand comes to an end.

The trio of brothers, homeschooled in what they have lovingly coined a “shitty little pink house” in St. Joseph, Missouri, have embraced their dad’s love for punk rock and metal while creating something uniquely their own. Their live shows are known for their explosive energy, earning praise from tourmates including Foo Fighters, Jack White, Rise Against, Living Colour, The Offspring, the Descendents and Local H.
