The Weird Sisters put on an immersive space disco show at Higher Ground in Burlington,VT.

The Weird Sisters brought a whole new energy to live music with their space disco sound. Space disco is a musical genre that blends classic disco with electronic elements and cosmic themes, enhanced by visuals that tie it all together. The crowd was amazed by their ability to create a fresh, unique sound using a variety of instruments and vocal styles.

The Weird Sisters are an independent duo made up of Gabrielle Lewis and Izaac Short. They entered the music scene with their 2019 debut album, The Weird Sisters, a fusion of funk and garage rock. In 2023, the pair took an unexpected turn, evolving their sound from funk-infused garage rock to space disco after a trip to New York City, where they discovered dance music at the House of Yes. This experience was a turning point, helping them bridge the gap between what they were creating in the studio and the energy they envisioned for their live shows. Many songs, like ‘Turn the Music Up’ and ‘Shirley,’ were directly inspired by their adventures in the Big Apple. In 2024, the duo released their sophomore album, Who Are The Weird Sisters?

The duo amazed the crowd with their space disco and flawless transitions between songs. They started the night with “Dudes of Dimension” and played non-stop from there. The night continued with countless hits such as “Ultraviolet”, “Party On”, “Texas Toast”, “Turn the Music Up”, “Mystery Trips of The Night” and many more.

The Weird Sisters have definitely found their place and are masters at what they do. Their concerts take fans on a psychedelic, EDM-fueled ride, inviting the audience to fully immerse themselves in the music, the visuals, and the vibe. With their infectious energy and genre-blurring sound, they create an unforgettable live experience that is as much a dance party as it is a cosmic journey. Each performance feels like a celebration of creativity, freedom, and connection, offering fans not just a concert but an atmosphere where sound and soul intertwine.

As they continue to carve out their own lane in the ever-evolving world of indie music, The Weird Sisters prove that reinvention is not only possible, it is powerful. Whether you’re new to their spacey grooves or a longtime fan from their garage rock days, one thing is certain: the ride with The Weird Sisters is just getting started.
