MEISA kicks off the road to GreggFest 2025 with Battle of the Bands, where student and local acts compete for a chance to open the festival.

MEISA, the Music & Entertainment Industry Student Association club on the Lyndon campus, is ramping up for GreggFest in May 2025. The fundraiser, originally created to support a student battling leukemia, Jake Gregg, is now in its eleventh year. While Jake unfortunately lost his battle with cancer, the music festival continues to honor his memory and raise money for cancer research.

This year, the club has decided to make some changes in the process leading up to the festival. The first change is the introduction of a new event, Battle of the Bands, taking place on March 7th. This event will allow the public to vote for the opening student and local community bands that will perform each night at GreggFest. Speaking with the President and Vice President of MEISA about the upcoming event, they shared that, “the goal of introducing Battle of the Bands is to make the selection of opening performers less biased and more open to new acts.”

The lineup for the night consists of eight local and campus bands: Bitter Sweet, Charlotte Rae, Jared Boren as Ensoniq, Coffee and Cream, Run Don’t Walk, Social C, Good Idiot, and Fantom. While the majority of the bands are from the campus, the show also features the Burlington-based band Good Idiot and the primarily alumni group Run Don’t Walk. With such a diverse lineup, the audience can expect a night of exciting performances from both new and experienced acts.
