Mudvayne hits the road this fall to celebrate 25 years of L.D. 50, joined by Static X and Vended for a powerhouse tour.
Mudvayne has announced they will be heading out on the road this fall with Static X and Vended for a 30-city tour, beginning in September in Dubuque, Iowa. The tour will travel across the United States and will wrap up on October 26 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.
L.D. 50 is Mudvayne’s debut studio album, released on August 22, 2000. The song “Dig” was the first single from the album and won the first-ever MTV2 Award in 2001. The combination of heavy guitar riffs, guttural vocals, and the band’s striking visual presence propelled them to success on the nu metal charts.
Hailing from Peoria, Illinois, Mudvayne is generally considered a nu metal band, but their sound includes influences from death metal, speed metal, and math metal. Math metal refers to the use of complex rhythms, irregular timing, and shifting tempos, which perfectly describes Mudvayne’s intricate musical style. Their layered guitar, bass, and drum work is a strong complement to Chad Gray’s vocal range, which shifts from aggressive screams to melodic harmonies. Songs like “Happy?” and “Fall Into Sleep” from Lost and Found, as well as “Scream With Me” from their 2009 self-titled album, showcase their signature sound.
Mudvayne will not be the only band marking an album anniversary. Static X will be celebrating 25 years since the release of Wisconsin Death Trip. Before joining Mudvayne in September, Static X will tour with Gwar and Dope through June, then head overseas in August.
Vended will also bring plenty of energy to this tour. With thunderous double-kick drumming, heavy riffs, and powerful screams, fans may hear echoes of Slipknot. That is no coincidence. Vocalist Griffin Taylor is the son of Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor, and drummer Simon Crahan is the son of Shawn “Clown” Crahan, who played a role in the production of L.D. 50.
